What we collect
- Your mobile number. Used to sign in and to text you your PIN.
- Your PIN. Stored as a one-way hash that cannot be read back — which is why "Forgot pin?" issues a new PIN rather than telling you your old one. Nobody at the union can see your PIN.
- A photo of your check-on card, and the details printed on it: your name, union number, employee number, years of seniority and the card's expiry date.
How it is protected
Your mobile number is scrambled in our records, and stays scrambled even when the union looks you up by it. Your PIN is stored the same way. Neither can be read back — not by union staff, and not by anyone who got hold of the records.
These public pages load nothing from anywhere else — no content networks, no web fonts, no analytics and no trackers of any kind.
Who else handles your information
The union does not sell, rent or trade your information, and never has. Nobody is given your details to use for their own purposes.
Running the app takes a few outside companies, in the same way the hall uses a printer or a payroll company. Each one handles only the one piece it needs in order to do its job, works under contract to the union, and is not permitted to use your information for anything else.
Text messages
We text you only about your account. What we send, how often, and how to stop it are set out in our text message policy.
Your choices
- Reply STOP to any text to stop receiving them.
- Change the mobile number on your account from the app.
- To see, correct or remove what the union holds about you, contact the union hall.
Accounts are managed by union staff; there is no self-service deletion in the app.
